The Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Access Point Router with 4-Port Switch is an excellent network device for home networking.  It provides basic firewall security protection from the Internet, a "hub" for the home network (but wireless and wired) especially when connected to a broadband internet connection.

The documentation provided by Linksys describes most of the configuration required.  See the document that comes with the device, or see the same material on-line on Linksys's web site for this device.

We have configured the device to send the access logs to the home Linux Server to be stored in log files.  The free software  called Linksysmon is used.   It accepts log messages and stores them in /var/logs/linksys.log.

Linksysmon also provides cron scripts to rotate the log files, automatic notification of change of out-board IP address (from the ISP), and a daily report.
